This policy explains what data The Last Line collects, why we collect it, and how we handle it.
The Last Line is a collaborative storytelling platform (“we”, “us”, “the platform”). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it.
When you sign up via Google or Apple sign-in, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from the authentication provider. We store your email address and the username you choose on our platform. We do not store your Google or Apple password.
Every line you submit, every story you start, every title you choose, and every interaction you make (likes, prefers, bookmarks, flags) is stored on our servers. This is necessary to operate the platform.
If a line fails to post, it is saved as a draft on our servers so you can retrieve it later from any device. Drafts are deleted once successfully posted or manually removed by you.
We collect basic usage data to understand how the platform is used and to improve it. This includes pages visited, features used, timestamps, device type, and browser type. We do not use third-party analytics services that track you across other websites.
When content is flagged, we store the flag category, the flagged content, and the outcome of the review. When content is removed, we retain a record of the removal, the rule cited, and the strike history for the accounts involved. This data is used solely for moderation and safety purposes.
We do not collect your precise location. We do not access your contacts, photos, or files. We do not read your messages outside of the platform. We do not use cookies for advertising or tracking purposes beyond basic session management.
We use the data we collect to operate the platform (display stories, deliver notifications, process submissions), to enforce our Community Guidelines and Terms and Conditions (moderation, strike tracking, account actions), to improve the platform (understanding usage patterns, identifying bugs), and to communicate with you (notifications, service updates, moderation outcomes).
Your data is stored on Supabase, a cloud database platform. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Our application is hosted on Vercel. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data, but no system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
We do not sell your data. We have no advertising partners. We do not share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
We may share data with third parties only in the following circumstances: with authentication providers (Google, Apple) as necessary to operate sign-in; with law enforcement when required by law or when content involving sexual exploitation of minors is detected; and with service providers (Supabase, Vercel) who process data on our behalf under contractual obligations to protect it.
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct inaccurate data, to request deletion of your account and personal data, and to export your data in a portable format.
You can export your data and delete your account directly from the Settings page in the app. For any other request, contact us at anampersand@proton.me. We will respond within 30 days.
You may delete your account at any time via the Settings page. When you delete your account, it is first scheduled for deletion and locked; after a 30-day grace period (during which you can restore it), your personal data (email, username, profile) is permanently removed. Lines you contributed to collaborative stories may remain as part of those stories, attributed to a deleted-account marker rather than your username. Moderation records are retained as required for platform safety.
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. After account deletion and the grace period, personal data is removed. Content contributed to collaborative stories may be retained indefinitely as part of those works. Moderation records (flags, removals, strikes) are retained for the lifetime of the platform for safety and integrity purposes. Drafts are retained until successfully posted or manually deleted.
The Last Line is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If we become aware that we have collected data from a person under 16, we will delete the account and associated data promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the platform. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
Questions about this Privacy Policy should be directed to anampersand@proton.me.
